This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee a portfolio of 60–120 corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
• Cultivate, solicit, and manage relationships with institutional donors capable of contributing major gifts.
• Create and execute effective multi-year donor strategies.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, fundraisers, conservation staff, and finance partners.
• Draft written proposals, reports, and updates for donors.
• Conduct site visits and personalized meetings with donors.
• Coordinate the pipeline process for the Corporate and Foundation Relations team.
• Identify and assess potential institutional supporters.
• Work independently and apply judgment to identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies as well as donor, legal, and IRS regulations.
• Oversee assigned projects, manage colleagues' contributions, and establish deadlines.
• Engage in complex or sensitive negotiations.
• Articulate TNC’s conservation mission to diverse audiences.
• Complete 60–120 donor visits and conduct 100–480 moves annually.
• Achieve an annual fundraising target of $1,000,000–$2,000,000, including goals for $100,000 solicitations.
• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to build and sustain long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
• Experience in soliciting and securing gifts of $25,000 or more.
• Ability to manage and track multiple prospects and donors simultaneously.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge, coursework, or training in fundraising principles and practices.
• Multi-lingual skills and experience in multi-cultural or cross-cultural settings are beneficial.
• Capability to assess an individual’s interests, capacity, and potential to support the Conservancy’s objectives.
• Proficient in educating and informing prospective and current donors about suitable giving options.
• Ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
• Understanding of current trends in charitable giving, such as capital campaigns, major gifts, or planned giving.
• Experience employing listening, diplomacy, and tact to foster relationships and motivate donors and volunteers.
• Skill in negotiating high-profile or sensitive agreements.
• Basic knowledge of charitable gift planning.
• Valid driver’s license and adherence to TNC’s Auto Safety Program.
• Successful completion of The Nature Conservancy’s background screening process.
