This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver strategic communications support, both internally and externally, for a diverse regional communications team advancing TNC’s 2030 objectives.
• Act as the strategic communications leader for the North America Region, emphasizing internal communications, executive positioning, and organizational alignment.
• Collaborate with regional leadership, Global Communications, Internal Communications, Conservation, and Fundraising teams.
• Create and implement the strategic communications plan for the North America Region office.
• Generate talking points, FAQs, background documents, and other communications materials.
• Provide guidance on and execute communications rollouts regarding finance, operations, policy communications, change management, and other significant organizational events.
• Oversee internal, executive, policy, and crisis communications across TNC teams.
• Assist with rapid-response communications for both internal and external audiences.
• Ensure regional communications align with global Marketing and Communications strategies, messaging, sequencing, and strategic direction.
• Contribute to regional responses utilizing TNC’s rapid response framework and internal decision-making tools.
• Align the regional internal communications strategy with the global approach.
• Provide support for executive communications for key regional leaders.
• Offer communications, technical, and on-air assistance for town halls, staff discussions, conservation learning sessions, and division-wide calls.
• Refresh regional internal and external materials, including SharePoint pages, background documents, and impact reports.
• Support senior regional leaders in their internal and external presentations.
• Assist with the social media strategy for the Regional Executive Director.
• Create communications materials that align with TNC’s One Future campaign.
• Achieve strategic goals and objectives.
• Adapt flexibly to executive communications, leadership priorities, and time-sensitive initiatives, including work outside standard business hours when necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
• Proven experience in developing complex integrated strategic communications plans.
• Demonstrated ability to measure the outcomes of strategic plans and programs.
• Experience in cultivating and managing relationships with senior executives, board members, and media representatives.
• Background in supporting earned media efforts, including preparing executives for media interviews and appearances.
• Senior-level experience in the communications field.
• Exceptional writing, presentation, communication, mediation, and negotiation skills.
• Experience in managing organizational change and advising senior leaders.
• Proven track record of coordinating with stakeholders across a global organization and with cross-functional global teams.
• Experience in developing, implementing, measuring, and evaluating multifaceted strategic communications initiatives, plans, and programs.
• Demonstrated success in building and sustaining long-term relationships with partners, board members, senior leaders, and media representatives.
• Proven ability to manage the fiduciary elements of planning and delivering annual budgets.
