• Develop and implement a business sales strategy targeting specific therapeutic areas or customer segments.
• Build and oversee a portfolio of active sales opportunities valued at AUD$8–12M annually.
• Identify and pursue strategic growth initiatives and opportunities for market expansion.
• Act as a strategic business advisor to key sponsors and stakeholders.
• Formulate account strategies while managing complex negotiations and relationships with C-level sponsors.
• Lead significant proposals and responses to RFPs for strategic opportunities.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to create competitive proposals.
• Finalize complex deals with substantial contract values.
• Monitor trends in therapeutics, funding patterns, and competitive dynamics.
• Conduct strategic analyses and provide insights to shape company positioning.
• Share insights on competitive intelligence and market trends with leadership.
• Mentor and lead 1–3 business development professionals in strategy, sales techniques, and career advancement.
• Collaborate with team members to meet collective sales objectives and foster personal growth.
• Maintain thorough and accurate CRM data for opportunities and account activities.
• Deliver monthly strategic sales reports featuring pipeline analysis and forecasts.
• Participate in and lead engagements at industry conferences and strategic networking events.
• Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and thought leaders.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, marketing, and regional leadership on strategic initiatives.
• Ensure that commitments and proposals are in line with the company’s capabilities and strategy.
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or a related field.
• An MBA or advanced degree (MSc, PhD) is strongly preferred.
• 6-8 years of professional experience in sales, business development, or a related area.
• 4-6 years of experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, or clinical research sectors.
• Over 2 years of leadership experience managing BD professionals.
• Advanced skills in consultative selling and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
• Excellent skills in leadership, coaching, and team development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; capability to influence at the C-level.
• Proficient in Salesforce CRM and sales analytics.
• Technologically adept, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to maintain a broad perspective while focusing on details and quality.
• Capacity to adapt and be flexible in response to changing organizational priorities and ambiguous environments.
