Associate Director – Appraisals

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of intricate appraisal projects from the initial engagement to the delivery of the final report.

• Facilitate client onboarding, specialist outreach, scheduling, timeline management, and invoicing processes.

• Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing status updates and managing their expectations.

• Create, revise, and compile USPAP-compliant appraisal reports.

• Integrate specialist valuations, market analysis, and comparable sale information.

• Coordinate with internal and contractor specialists for valuations, documentation, and specific expertise on objects.

• Conduct and assist with onsite assessments of personal property collections, which includes photography and cataloging.

• Keep project records updated in CRM and project management systems.

• Identify changes in status, adjustments in scope, and potential timeline risks.

• Contribute to the enhancement of processes, template creation, and workflow initiatives.

• Delegate report production responsibilities to Appraisal Associates as necessary.

• Collaborate with Business Development and Advisory teams to foster relationships with clients and referrers.

• Assist in the preparation of proposals and optimize the schedules of appraisers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five to seven years of experience in personal property appraisal, art research, or a related field in art services.

• Valid USPAP certification (15-Hour USPAP or its equivalent).

• Professional designation (ASA, AAA, or equivalent) either in progress or completed.

• Exceptional organizational skills for managing multiple active project files while adhering to deadlines.

• Strong written communication abilities for crafting appraisal narratives and client correspondence.

• Experience in one or more categories of personal property, including fine art, decorative art, jewelry, silver, furniture, or collectibles.

• High proficiency with technology-driven workflows and digital collection management systems.

• Familiarity with auction databases and art market research tools like Invaluable, AskArt, MutualArt, and Artnet.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.

• Comfortable using CRM systems and project management tools.

• Willingness to travel for onsite evaluations as needed.
