Assistant Vice President – Environmental

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assess and analyze intricate submissions to establish risk acceptance and pricing strategies.

• Formulate and negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for significant accounts in line with established guidelines.

• Guarantee compliance with underwriting authority and adherence to regulatory and corporate standards.

• Work collaboratively with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders to address issues and negotiate solutions.

• Offer technical guidance and support to junior underwriters.

• Oversee portfolio performance and suggest corrective measures for enhancement and growth.

• Participate in process improvements and the development of best practices within the underwriting field.

• Stay informed on market trends and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge.

• Conduct complex underwriting tasks across designated lines of business with a high degree of autonomy and judgment.

• Act as a technical authority and manage complex accounts or portfolios.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.

• At least 5–7 years of professional underwriting experience in commercial or specialty lines.

• Proven experience in managing complex accounts and utilizing advanced underwriting judgment.

• Superior analytical and risk assessment abilities.

• Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.

• Proficient in underwriting systems and rating tools.

• Capability to interpret financial statements and exposure data for informed decision-making.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complicated scenarios.

• Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

• Fluency in English is essential.

• Achievement of industry designations such as CPCU, AU, or equivalent is highly desirable.

• State-specific insurance licenses may be necessary depending on the jurisdiction.
