Assistant Vice President – Credit Policy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee lending and financing policies and frameworks for targeted products within the UAE.

• Develop and oversee credit criteria and Risk Asset Acceptance Criteria for designated products.

• Establish retail credit policies, lending, and financing guidelines to enhance portfolio quality and strategy.

• Propel the retail bank’s risk and growth initiatives through relevant retail credit policy measures.

• Attain targeted risk charges for retail products by ensuring quality acquisitions and refining lending criteria with underwriting teams.

• Revise and sustain the Retail Credit Policy Manual for each individual product program.

• Align retail credit policies with strategic objectives and targeted growth segments.

• Ensure that UAE product programs are consistent, standardized, and comply with the retail banking lending framework.

• Perform regular comprehensive portfolio evaluations in the UAE.

• Provide retail risk insights on strategic initiatives, portfolio management, acquisitions, central bank regulations, and provisioning standards.

• Assess and implement the effects of Central Bank regulations on retail risk.

• Collaborate with various departments including business, risk, legal, and others on portfolio strategy, segmentation, performance, and profitability.

• Track risk charges and ensure stable portfolio performance aligns with planned expectations.

• Facilitate the automation of policies and procedures with underwriting and relevant stakeholders.

• Evaluate and propose new product launches and significant policy modifications to senior management.

• For secured products, confirm appropriate collateral asset classes, acceptable LTVs, security perfection, and sound legal structures.

• Ensure favorable audit and consumer examination ratings for the retail credit policy unit.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree (M.Sc.) or Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field from a recognized institution.

• Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in banking or financial services with a strong background in credit risk analytics, retail risk management, and policy development, preferably in unsecured lending portfolios.

• Solid foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics applied to credit underwriting, scorecards, and portfolio oversight.

• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks.

• Ability to convert data-driven insights into actionable credit policy decisions to optimize risk-return dynamics.

• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or SQL for data analysis and model development.

• Strong expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.

• Experience with large datasets, data pipelines, and cloud-based analytics environments is preferred.

• Exposure to unconventional datasets, including unstructured and alternate data, to enhance lending strategies.

• In-depth understanding of retail credit risk frameworks, portfolio dynamics, and regulatory standards, including Central Bank guidelines.

• Awareness of industry best practices in AI-driven credit decision-making, digital underwriting, and risk-based pricing.

• Ability to integrate AI-driven insights into business strategies while balancing growth and risk, with a focus on ethical AI practices.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of conveying complex analytical results to senior leadership.

• Strategic mindset focused on portfolio optimization, early warning indicators, and proactive risk management.

• Familiarity with digital lending platforms, fintech ecosystems, or AI-enabled underwriting systems.

• Prior experience in product strategy or portfolio management is a plus.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and data analytical skills are essential.

• Previous experience in Product Management is an additional asset.
