Assistant Professor, Biology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver online courses and participate in residency programs.

• Guide doctoral learners and chair or serve on doctoral committees.

• Facilitate engaging dissertation and doctoral capstone course environments.

• Utilize course feedback and data to enhance teaching effectiveness and learner experience.

• Assist in curriculum and course development, including planning, objectives, outcomes, teaching resources, and assessments.

• Ensure that curriculum and course materials reflect sensitivity, diversity, and inclusiveness.

• Engage in school and university governance through committee participation.

• Offer mentorship and support to faculty colleagues.

• Share professional expertise and skills with learners, the institution, the profession, and the community.

• Maintain scholarly proficiency through writing, speaking, research, attending conferences, and delivering presentations.

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, commencement ceremonies, residencies, webinars, orientations, mentoring, course revisions, and other university-related activities.

• Assist with accreditation, program development, advising, learner management, research, and partnership initiatives as assigned.

• Monitor learner progress, provide both formative and summative feedback, and direct learners to additional resources as needed.

• Assume leadership roles and undertake challenging projects that promote learner success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in higher education, specifically in an online environment.

• Required experience in teaching biology or life sciences.

• Experience in higher education teaching is mandatory.

• Proven background in curriculum writing is essential.

• Demonstrated commitment to supporting learner success and achieving quality teaching outcomes is required.

• Ability to contribute to diversity, cultural sensitivity, and the excellence of the academic community through teaching and/or service is necessary.

• Experience with scholarly writing and familiarity with APA 6th edition guidelines is required.

• A doctorate in a related field is mandatory.

• A doctorate or Master’s degree in biology (Life Sciences) or a related discipline such as microbiology or human anatomy is required.

• Previous experience mentoring doctoral students is preferred.

• Membership in an educational leadership organization is preferred.

• A commitment to service and practice in educational leadership is preferred.

• Experience in leadership roles that involve team engagement is preferred.

• Previous experience presenting at professional conferences is preferred.

• Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs arise is required.

• Faculty positions necessitate a remote work environment equipped with a computer, privacy, reliable internet access, a phone, and video conferencing capabilities.

• Must meet critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication standards.

• Availability to work over 40 hours per week when business needs dictate is required.

• Ability to access information using a computer is essential.
