This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Assist in the month-end closing process, ensuring that financial data is comprehensive and precise.
• Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications, accompanied by the necessary supporting documentation.
• Aid in the preparation of management accounts and variance analyses.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate as well as resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain organized and clear financial working papers for audits and internal reviews.
• Ensure that costs are accurately coded and allocated across various departments and workstreams.
• Generate regular financial reports to assist in budget monitoring.
• Provide support to budget holders regarding financial inquiries and cost clarifications.
• Collaborate with transactional finance teams to address posting and data discrepancies.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial information across relevant systems.
• Identify areas for improvement in reporting processes, data integrity, and efficiency.
• Contribute to enhancements in reporting templates, dashboards, and documentation.
• Continue to enhance technical accounting and analytical skills.
• 1–3 years of experience in a finance support role, assistant accountant position, or junior accounting capacity.
• AAT Level 4 qualified or actively pursuing completion.
• Working knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, and prepayments.
• Experience with month-end procedures and account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with management reporting and variance analysis.
• Proficiency in accounting or ERP systems; experience with SAP, Oracle, or Sage is preferred.
• Competent in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI is a plus.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining financial information to non-financial colleagues.
• Possess an analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to professionally handle confidential financial information.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience in a regulated or multi-entity environment is advantageous.
• Willingness to pursue a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
• Clear progression path leading to a Management Accountant role.
• Encouragement to advance toward a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
