This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Take ownership of the entire commercial contracting process, encompassing client and institutional agreements, partner arrangements, protocols, and various business agreements.
β’ Directly negotiate with counterparties and their legal representatives.
β’ Provide guidance to Product and Engineering teams regarding onchain product development, along with associated legal and regulatory limitations.
β’ Address corporate, governance, equity and financing, employment, intellectual property, privacy, marketing, disputes, and regulatory issues in collaboration with the General Counsel.
β’ Collaborate with the Head of Compliance to ensure alignment of contractual obligations, policies, and controls.
β’ Assess which matters should be managed internally and identify areas where outside counsel can provide valuable support.
β’ Enhance legal intake processes, contract management systems, templates, playbooks, and team workflows.
β’ Implement AI and automation in drafting, reviewing, intake, and managing contracts.
β’ Act as the second-in-command to the General Counsel and step in during their absence.
β’ Report directly to the General Counsel while working closely with company leadership.
β’ Extensive experience in commercial contracting, including the drafting, negotiation, and closure of a diverse array of agreements.
β’ Experience working in-house, preferably within a smaller legal team where independent work was expected.
β’ A broad understanding of multiple legal areas rather than a narrow specialty, with the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new issues.
β’ Proven experience in creating templates, playbooks, processes, or tools that streamline routine legal tasks.
β’ Experience collaborating directly with Product, Engineering, Finance, People, Compliance, or other business divisions.
β’ Capability to provide clear, practical advice and manage risks without resorting to overly conservative approaches.
β’ Sound judgment and the confidence to address concerns directly.
β’ Comfort in a dynamic company environment where priorities and legal queries may shift.
β’ Willingness to remain detail-oriented and personally handle tasks as needed.
β’ Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
β’ Active membership in good standing with at least one US state bar.
