Assistant Director, Data, Supply Chain Analytics

📋 Description

• Create and oversee a decision-grade supply chain analytics capability for Ionis.

• Take ownership of the Supply Chain Data Visibility Platform, including its design, construction, validation, deployment, adoption, and ongoing enhancement.

• Lead the framework for Commercial Supply Chain KPIs, covering definitions, formulas, business rules, thresholds, data ownership, source-to-report traceability, and governance.

• Convert supply chain and manufacturing priorities into an analytics roadmap that includes prioritized use cases, business requirements, data products, dashboards, and self-service capabilities.

• Offer data-driven decision support for S&OP, supply reviews, CMO business reviews, manufacturing strategies, and network decisions, incorporating scenario and what-if analyses.

• Enhance visibility regarding customer service, inventory health, safety stock performance, forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, supplier and CMO performance, capacity, material constraints, release status, and emerging supply risks.

• Direct business requirements, user training, change management, prioritization, and validation for supply chain data products on the Ioniverse/Databricks platform.

• Collaborate with IT and external delivery teams on data ingestion, modeling, KPI logic, testing, production support, and ongoing improvement.

• Set data quality and reconciliation standards to ensure accurate, complete, timely, consistent, unique, and traceable information.

• Define service expectations for critical data products, including refresh timelines, availability, issue escalation, and resolution processes.

• Outline and maintain the strategy and roadmap for supply chain systems across SAP S/4HANA, SAP IBP, Ioniverse/Databricks, partner systems, and future capabilities.

• Assess and prioritize complex system and process changes, such as portfolio segmentation, geographic expansion, and scaling across products, sites, partners, and systems.

• Lead data governance initiatives across clinical and commercial manufacturing, including ownership, stewardship, master data change control, documentation, issue resolution, and cross-functional approvals.

• Foster alignment among business and technical stakeholders, clearly communicate complex issues and recommendations, and influence decisions across various functions and organizational levels.

• Develop sustainable operating processes, documentation, and knowledge transfer that minimize manual reconciliation and reliance on individual or vendor knowledge.

• Oversee business readiness, user training, and change management for new data products and capabilities while measuring adoption.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, business analytics, information systems, data science, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience; or equivalent education and experience.

• Advanced understanding of supply chain planning and operations, including demand and supply planning, inventory management, customer fulfillment, manufacturing, supplier/CMO performance, and S&OP.

• Proven experience in translating business processes and complex data into governed KPIs, analytical products, dashboards, and decision-making support.

• Background in leading cross-functional analytics, data, systems, or digital transformation initiatives from requirements and design through validation, deployment, and adoption.

• Strong grasp of data governance, master data management, data quality, reconciliation, lineage, and ownership/stewardship practices.

• Ability to independently structure complex problems, determine appropriate methods and approaches, exercise sound judgment, and provide practical solutions with minimal direction.

• Demonstrated skill in influencing diverse business and technical stakeholders, clearly explaining complex concepts, and leading through collaboration without direct authority.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and structured problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences manufacturing, or other regulated supply chain environments is preferred.

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, SAP IBP, Databricks, or comparable enterprise planning, ERP, data platform, and analytics technologies is preferred.

• Experience collaborating with external manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers, and technical delivery partners.
