This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Ensure precise financial documentation by performing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, approving accounts payable, managing payment systems, and conducting month-end closing activities.
• Take charge of the carrier reporting and bordereaux reconciliation procedures, analyzing policy-level reports, commissions, and associated payment transactions.
• Collaborate with Data, Finance, Product, and Program teams to uncover discrepancies, ascertain root causes, and coordinate solutions with internal teams and carrier partners.
• Spearhead or assist in enhancing accounting, reporting, and operational workflows by leveraging technology, automation, and AI.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and scrutinize discrepancies.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Review and authorize accounts payable invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
• Oversee the Ramp payment platform, which includes user administration, expense management, policy enforcement, and invoice approval workflows.
• Monitor and reconcile banking transactions and assist with ACH payments, wire transfers, and positive pay approvals.
• Maintain general ledger accounts along with supporting documentation.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries.
• Analyze financial data and account activities to recognize trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process enhancement.
• Aid in internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Ensure adherence to accounting standards, insurance regulations, trust accounting requirements, and company policies.
• Employ advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Assist in special projects, system implementations, and initiatives for process improvement.
• Execute other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience encompassing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end closing processes is essential.
• Prior experience in the insurance industry is required.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, accounting software, and financial databases, with the capability to manipulate and analyze substantial amounts of financial data.
• Strong comprehension of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
• Experience with accounting systems, expense management platforms, and financial reporting tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of trust accounting and trust laws is an advantage.
• A CPA license or active progress towards obtaining a CPA is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across finance, operations, and cross-functional teams.
