Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise the month-end and quarter-end closing activities.

• Act as a key point of contact with external auditors.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team.

• Foster ownership of the closing process among staff and senior accountants while addressing complex areas.

• Assess, enhance, and fortify departmental controls, systems, and processes.

• Perform technical accounting research and document conclusions.

• Address intricate business and technical challenges and prepare supporting memoranda.

• Collaborate with the Controller on financial reporting, audit readiness, and accounting policies across all entities.

• Drive technology and process enhancements for new business initiatives and a more efficient financial close.

• Lead projects aimed at improving closing efficiency and optimizing financial systems.

• Oversee and manage accounting systems, including NetSuite.

• Ensure adherence to GAAP, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Recruit, train, inspire, and develop team members.

• Supervise and allocate department tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 5-7 years of pertinent experience.

• At least 2 years of experience in a public accounting firm.

• Expertise in researching technical accounting issues and drafting memoranda.

• Strong understanding of GAAP principles, including software development and ASC 606.

• Experience in process optimization, simplification, and standardization.

• Knowledge of ERP solutions and financial systems; experience with NetSuite is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.

• Strong leadership and personnel management capabilities.

• Advanced degree or CPA certification.

• Experience in a high-growth startup environment is a plus.

• Ability to work effectively in remote settings is a plus.

• Experience managing extensive transactional data sets for accuracy and completeness is a plus.

• Familiarity with intercompany accounting for multiple entities is a plus.

• Knowledge of multi-currency translations is a plus.

• US work authorization is required.
