This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.
• Always be ready to take notes during a call.
• Have a solid understanding of the specific vocabulary related to the healthcare and medical sectors.
• Accurately convey all messages without any additions, omissions, or substitutions.
• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpreting sessions.
• Facilitate communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing precise and complete interpretation of the messages.
• Adhere to established standards of practice.
• Participate in internal professional training.
• Demonstrate eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.
• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.
• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.
• Proficient in both ASL and English.
• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.
• International certifications in the healthcare sector are a plus (e.g., HIPAA).
• ASL Language Certificate, RID, or BEI is required.
• High school diploma in your native language.
• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.
• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
• A solid understanding of Deaf culture.
• Fully remote position with a defined schedule.
