This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Respond to calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.
• Always be ready to take notes during calls.
• Familiarize yourself with the specific terminology relevant to the interpreting industry, particularly in healthcare and medical settings.
• Accurately and completely convey all messages without adding, omitting, or altering the content.
• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.
• Facilitate effective communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the Client by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.
• Adhere to established standards of practice.
• Participate in internal professional training sessions.
• Show enthusiasm in obtaining new professional certifications.
• Communicate and report effectively to your team leader.
• Adhere to dress code standards required for video remote interpreting.
• Proficient in both ASL and English.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in ASL VRS at a reputable interpretation company.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.
• International certifications in the healthcare field are a plus (e.g., HIPAA, etc.).
• ASL Language Certificate, RID, or BEI is mandatory.
• High school diploma in your native language is required.
• Possess high emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.
• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention abilities.
• Have a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
• Fully remote position with a defined schedule.
