ASL Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Handle incoming calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specialized vocabulary relevant to the industry, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, ensuring no additions, omissions, or substitutions are made.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Facilitate effective communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and clients by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Maintain communication and report to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code policies for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare field are a plus (such as HIPAA, etc.).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, or BEI is mandatory.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• High emotional intelligence and appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.

• A solid understanding of Deaf culture.
