Area Manager – Final Mile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Direct the strategic vision and operational effectiveness of the area, achieving business goals and promoting continuous improvement.

• Take ownership of area performance concerning cost, service, quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance metrics.

• Oversee and nurture Area Operations Managers, Senior Planners, Regional Managers, and Community Delivery Managers.

• Ensure effective planning, resource allocation, and operational optimization throughout the network.

• Examine performance data to spot trends, opportunities, and necessary corrective measures.

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and high performance.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with support functions, finance, HR, operational development teams, and union representatives.

• Manage the area’s P&L responsibilities, identifying ways to enhance efficiency and control costs.

• Provide strategic leadership across the East region, which includes Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Nottingham, and Coventry.

• Ensure legal compliance while achieving sustainable operational success through both employed and self-employed delivery models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated senior operational leadership experience in a complex logistics, distribution, or delivery setting.

• Proven experience in managing substantial budgets and operational performance.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing abilities.

• Experience working in unionized environments and with mixed employed/self-employed workforce models.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.

• Valid UK Driving Licence.
