This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Mentor and cultivate General Managers to guarantee the appropriate personnel are in place and that store-level procedures are executed with excellence.
• Foster ongoing development of store-level management teams through strategic workforce planning.
• Implement and deliver customer-experience initiatives, uphold Wawa brand standards, ensure safe and secure store environments, and engage both associates and customers.
• Create, execute, and sustain operational plans that align with corporate standards.
• Support General Managers by helping them focus and prioritize their tasks effectively.
• Maintain a consistent presence in stores across all shifts and days, at least 4 days a week, to observe, coach, and establish expectations.
• Enhance store leadership's business acumen to boost profitability and drive key performance metrics.
• Ensure that General Managers comprehend and utilize business reports and tools effectively.
• Assess local markets and competitive environments; share insights with Directors of Store Operations.
• Adapt to evolving market conditions and competitor actions to meet financial goals and Health of the Business metrics.
• Address customer and vendor complaints while implementing effective grievance resolutions.
• Foster relationships with internal corporate departments and external vendors to resolve store-specific challenges.
• Communicate in a professional manner with both internal and external customers while maintaining community relationships.
• Lead the implementation and change management of new initiatives; align the General Manager team and provide process feedback to the Director of Store Operations.
• Ensure adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage crisis situations and consistently apply accountability and progressive discipline.
• Serve as a positive role model by exemplifying Wawa’s Core Values and Brand Ambassadorship.
• Direct and support the team; oversee work, provide feedback and coaching, assist in development, complete performance evaluations, take corrective actions, and participate in hiring decisions.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in analyzing information and proposing effective solutions.
• Capability to build and nurture strong teams and individuals.
• Highly developed consultative and facilitation skills.
• Exceptional professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Understanding of P&L reports, budgeting, and basic financial evaluation skills.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities and timelines.
• Availability to respond to store-related emergencies 24/7/365.
• Ability to foster a working environment that promotes positive morale, individuality, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to relocate as necessary – preferred.
• Ability to travel locally 80% of the time.
• At least 3 years of experience in multi-unit management within the Retail or Food & Beverage industry.
• Proven success in managing and developing team leaders.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field – preferred.
• MVR check required at the time of offer.
