This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the main advocate and strategic leader for the designated region.
• Establish the direction for AbbVie's market access goals.
• Provide overarching oversight of regional operations and serve as the key liaison for top-tier clients.
• Formulate and execute local market access strategies and influence mapping.
• Identify key influencers, emerging channels, and significant players while customizing engagement plans to enhance market access for essential brands.
• Collaborate with and assist the Area Access Director in the planning and execution of direct Area customer contracts.
• Sustain customer relationships and manage daily interactions.
• Proactively recognize and address customer concerns, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
• Keep Area Directors updated on critical developments and escalations.
• Coordinate with Centers of Excellence, Area Directors, Area Strategists, FRMs, MOSLs, and Patient Support Services.
• Identify regional growth opportunities and suggest initiatives to broaden access and strengthen customer relationships.
• Keep a close watch on industry trends and competitor activities.
• Track and report on key performance indicators.
• Utilize data analytics, including MABI, to evaluate contract effectiveness and enhance performance and execution.
• Engage in continuous sitting for extended periods (over 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day).
• Travel to customer locations within the region and to AbbVie's Chicago Headquarters 3–4 times.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Over 5 years of experience in sales management; District Manager or Regional Manager experience is preferred.
• Experience in account management and/or marketing within healthcare or a related sector.
• More than 2 years of account management experience in a Group Practice/Payor/Institutional setting is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a large, complex geography and influence a variety of stakeholders.
• Experience in contract negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and achieving commercial results.
• Capability to manage cross-functional teams within a matrixed environment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving criteria.
• Ability to operate a personal vehicle or company car or truck, or powered material handling equipment.
• Must reside within the region, preferably near a major airport.
• Willingness to travel to on-site customer locations within the region.
• Availability to travel 3–4 times to AbbVie's Chicago Headquarters.
• Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.).
• Preferred: Extensive knowledge of regional payer landscapes, healthcare policies, and key customer categories (IDNs, VISNs, Employers).
• Preferred: Proficiency in data analytics and experience using tools or platforms to guide strategy and decision-making.
