Architect, Modern Platforms Cloud Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and document cloud-native architectures that are highly available, secure, and performant across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

• Establish engineering standards and reusable patterns for compute, networking, storage, containers, serverless, messaging, databases, and platform services.

• Integrate Infrastructure as Code methodologies using Terraform, ARM templates, or CloudFormation.

• Develop and implement frameworks for cloud adoption and landing zone strategies.

• Lead comprehensive cloud migration projects, including assessment, planning, execution, lift-and-shift, replatforming, and application modernization.

• Assess on-premises and hybrid workloads and create migration roadmaps.

• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure migration readiness and operational continuity.

• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure deployments.

• Engineer resilient, auto-scaling cloud-native solutions.

• Implement frameworks for monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability.

• Enforce cloud governance policies concerning tagging, resource usage, budgets, and identity management.

• Architect secure environments utilizing IAM, encryption, key management, and network security controls.

• Support compliance with HIPAA, FedRAMP, and ISO 27001, ensuring audit readiness.

• Evaluate performance and cost efficiency, optimizing through rightsizing, reserved instances, and modern architectures.

• Conduct architecture reviews and well-architected assessments.

• Apply FinOps principles and tools to enhance cost transparency and optimize cloud expenditures.

• Uphold SRE principles through resilience, fault tolerance, and operational visibility.

• Troubleshoot systemic cloud issues and drive root-cause analysis to resolution.

• Provide counsel to business and technology leaders during discovery and design sessions.

• Present architecture recommendations, roadmaps, and outcomes to executive and senior stakeholders.

• Propel cloud adoption strategies within client organizations.

• Mentor and guide engineering and development teams.

• Advocate for knowledge sharing through documentation, communities of practice, and enablement sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, including military experience.

• 5+ years of client-facing consulting experience involving cloud and on-premises architecture strategy and execution in enterprise settings.

• 5+ years of IT experience, incorporating hands-on cloud engineering or architecture across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS), virtualization, and cloud-native services.

• Practical experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Relevant cloud certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Architect Expert.

• Proficient in Terraform, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and scripting languages (Python, Bash).

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, service meshes, and cloud networking.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting abilities.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Experience in implementing cloud governance frameworks and security controls is preferred.

• Knowledge of hybrid and multicloud strategies and tooling is preferred.

• Familiarity with agile methodologies and a DevSecOps culture is preferred.

• Understanding of AI/ML infrastructure patterns, GPU-backed computing, AI/ML pipelines, vector databases, and LLM deployment is preferred.

• Capability to lead engineering workshops and influence cloud adoption strategies.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
