AR Medical Insurance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee overdue accounts and carry out collection responsibilities.

• Analyze reports, investigate, and address issues.

• Ensure accuracy in payment postings and confirm that account balances are up to date.

• Collaborate with colleagues to rectify billing and insurance payment discrepancies.

• Track and revise the status of overdue accounts.

• Suggest accounts for collection or write-off as necessary.

• Address patient inquiries regarding payments, billing, and insurance, while resolving any complaints.

• Reach out to patients to collect overdue balances, verify demographic and insurance information, update system records, and document discussions.

• Direct patients to the Patient Benefits Representative for payment plan arrangements when required.

• Manage patient and payer credit balances, ensuring timely refunds in compliance with government regulations.

• Uphold and comply with The US Oncology’s Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, Business Standards, and Shared Values.

• Perform additional tasks as requested or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in medical billing and payments is necessary.

• Familiarity with state, federal, and third-party claims processing is required.

• Understanding of state and federal collections regulations is essential.

• Completion of mandatory e-learning courses within 90 days of starting the position is required.

• Compliance with confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA regulations pertaining to patient records is a must.

• Capability to sit and operate a computer keyboard and mouse on a regular basis.

• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, and lift or move up to 30 pounds.

• Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal levels.
