AR Medical Insurance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee delinquent accounts and carry out collection tasks.

• Analyze reports, investigate, and address issues.

• Ensure accuracy in payment postings and maintain current account balances.

• Collaborate with colleagues to rectify insurance payment and billing discrepancies.

• Track and update the status of delinquent accounts.

• Suggest accounts for collection or write-off.

• Respond to patient inquiries regarding payments, billing, and insurance, resolving any complaints.

• Reach out to patients to collect overdue balances, verify demographic and insurance information, update system records, and document discussions.

• Direct patients to the Patient Benefits Representative to establish payment plans when necessary.

• Manage patient and payer credit balances, ensuring timely refunds in compliance with government regulations.

• Comply with confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines related to patient records.

• Execute additional tasks as requested or assigned.

• Regularly interact with other staff members, payers, and Practice personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.

• At least two (2) years of combined experience in medical billing and payments is necessary.

• Proven understanding of state, federal, and third-party claims processing is required.

• Familiarity with state and federal collections guidelines is essential.

• Must complete all required e-learning courses within 90 days of starting the position.

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and guidelines concerning patient records is crucial.

• Proficient in using a computer keyboard and mouse.

• Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal levels.

• Capability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
