Applied AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• As an Applied AI Engineer at Splitero, you will be responsible for identifying, defining, and implementing AI-driven capabilities within our products and operations.

• You will be part of the engineering team but will collaborate across various functions, working closely with product, operations, and business teams to pinpoint areas where AI can provide significant value, and then develop those solutions.

• Your role involves directly engaging with our sales, processing, underwriting, closing, and servicing teams to discover, define, and execute opportunities to enhance and automate their workflows as we expand.

• You will advocate for AI-first development, educate the team on new tools, and lead technical projects that propel the organization forward.

• Your focus will be on delivering functional AI solutions into production by automating workflows, enhancing our product experience, and enabling Splitero to operate more efficiently and intelligently.

• You will possess a solid understanding of when supervised AI is preferable over the risks associated with full automation.

• You are equally adept at setting up low-code n8n automations as you are at writing clean code, understanding when to apply each approach appropriately.

• You will report directly to the VP of Product and Engineering and work collaboratively across Salesforce, product, operations, and business functions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years in software engineering, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience in developing production-level AI or LLM-powered applications.

• Practical experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and designing agentic workflows. You stay updated with the latest developments and innovations in AI platforms.

• Proven track record in assessing, advocating for, and operationalizing AI tools within an organization.

• Proficiency with low/no-code orchestration platforms (such as n8n, Make, Zapier) to quickly prototype and deliver AI workflows.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, etc.) to expedite development cycles, while exercising the discernment to produce clean, maintainable code when necessary. You are not a vibe coder; your engineering expertise allows you to balance speed and quality using AI-based tools.

• Strong background in backend or full-stack engineering; you integrate AI into functional systems, not just prototypes.

• Proficient in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or similar languages; knowledge of PostgreSQL and cloud deployment platforms (AWS, Vercel, etc.) is also beneficial.

• Experience with multi-agent frameworks (such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.).

• Understanding of vector databases, embedding pipelines, and evaluation frameworks for LLM outputs.

• Self-motivated and comfortable functioning independently. You manage your own backlog and can initiate and validate business use cases without needing a fully defined specification.

• Excellent communication skills to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
