
Applications Engineer – Asia Pacific

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.
• Lead QED’s Applications Engineering team within the Asia Pacific region.
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance customer value from QED’s polishing and metrology products.
• Offer technical assistance during client meetings, capability assessments, product demonstrations, trade exhibitions, and marketing activities.
• Assist in creating technical content, such as white papers, case studies, social media updates, and YouTube videos.
• Publish or present technical papers at industry trade shows and conferences.
• Provide both remote and onsite customer support, including basic and advanced training, process optimization, and the development of new processes.
• Aid in polishing and metrology validations during the installation of new machines.
• Collaborate with the Customer Service Manager to promptly track and resolve customer inquiries.
• Gather and relay Voice of Customer feedback to Engineering, R&D, and Marketing departments.
• Identify and investigate new applications and markets for QED technology through process development initiatives within the CEC.
• Partner with R&D on new developments in fluid, software, and hardware.
• Travel domestically and internationally approximately 30–50% of the time.
• A minimum of a B.S. in Optical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in precision optics, photonics, semiconductor manufacturing, or other precision manufacturing sectors.
• Proficiency in optical fabrication techniques, including generating, grinding, lapping, polishing, sub-aperture polishing, ion beam figuring, magnetorheological finishing, interferometry, and optical testing of plano, spherical, and aspherical optics.
• Familiarity with machine control software.
• Knowledge of metrology instrument software.
• Proficient in mathematical analysis software.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English, Japanese, and Mandarin is critical for the region; proficiency in all three languages is preferred.
• Ability to develop a profound technical understanding and effectively address customer process challenges.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and achieve results in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30–50% of the time.
