Android Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain high-performance native Android applications utilizing Kotlin.

• Incorporate chat, vision, voice, and recommendation functionalities through backend APIs.

• Design mobile UX patterns for real-time engagements, streaming responses, progress indicators, retries, and handling partial failures.

• Analyze and enhance app performance, memory usage, and battery longevity.

• Implement telemetry, logging, and feedback mechanisms for model assessment and product enhancement.

• Collaborate with ML and backend engineering teams on API agreements, protocols, and system behaviors.

• Maintain production quality, app security, and compliance with Google Play Store release guidelines.

• Take ownership of the native client experience for intelligent, data-driven mobile functionalities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of professional experience in Android development with Kotlin.

• Hands-on experience in integrating AI-driven features such as LLMs, vision, or speech APIs into production applications.

• Strong expertise in Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.

• Solid experience working with REST or gRPC APIs and structured data formats.

• Capability to create resilient mobile interfaces that handle latency, network instability, and dynamic model responses.

• Excellent debugging, memory management, and performance profiling abilities.

• Familiarity with on-device ML frameworks like MLKit and TensorFlow Lite.

• Proven history of publishing and maintaining production applications on the Google Play Store.
