Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain dbt models spanning from the business vault layer to the data mart.

• Collaborate with the BI and Enterprise Data teams to enhance existing mart models by adding fields, refining calculations, and extending functionalities.

• Create new Kimball-style datasets derived from business vault sources when no new ingestion is necessary.

• Construct and manage AI-ready datasets tailored for internal AI systems, ensuring data is structured, documented, and reliable.

• Update and enrich the data dictionary in OpenMetadata, detailing definitions, lineage, and field-level documentation.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish reporting metrics and clarify ambiguous business inquiries into well-defined specifications.

• Work alongside BI Analysts to convert insight requirements into modeling specifications.

• Design Tableau dashboards and reports for stakeholders, ensuring that complex calculations remain within the data layer and Tableau data sources are kept straightforward.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, or a comparable role.

• Practical experience with dbt, including the creation of models, tests, and documentation in a production environment.

• Strong SQL capabilities, especially within a cloud data warehouse framework.

• Knowledge of dimensional modeling concepts, including facts, dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions.

• Proven experience in delivering analyses or dashboards to business stakeholders, beyond just building pipelines.

• Proficiency in a business intelligence tool, with a preference for Tableau.

• Experience in conducting analyses that involve multiple data sources and systems.

• Comfortable working within Git-based workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
