This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica, +5 more countries.
• Oversee, mentor, and cultivate the skills of two Team Leads and four Analysts.
• Define clear roles, quality benchmarks, feedback mechanisms, and accountability measures.
• Assess demand based on business significance, urgency, data readiness, and resource availability.
• Take ownership of the enterprise analytical agenda and resource planning.
• Recruit, evaluate performance, nurture Team Leads, and ensure succession planning.
• Maintain active participation in priority project delivery.
• Convert business inquiries into statistical analyses, predictive models, experiments, dashboards, forecasts, scenario models, and actionable recommendations.
• Guarantee that deliverables are timely, comprehensible, actionable, and thoroughly articulate assumptions, limitations, and significant changes.
• Provide model assessments and reproducible performance evidence for BLV and other intelligence products.
• Counsel senior leaders on findings, uncertainties, and trade-offs.
• Challenge existing business assumptions and analytical methodologies.
• Develop reusable models and decision-making tools.
• Create consistent metric definitions, technical evaluations, documentation, and review practices.
• Collaborate with data engineering and business teams to enhance data quality, automate routine tasks, increase self-service options, and eliminate redundant reporting.
• Offer technical evidence for independent validation and business endorsement.
• Enhance the analytics operational model and monitor the adoption of improvements.
• Personally carry out significant analyses, develop or critique models, examine data, define metrics, and draft decision recommendations.
• Relevant education or professional training in statistics, mathematics, economics, finance, engineering, computer science, analytics, or a related quantitative field is preferred; a degree is not a requirement.
• At least twelve years of progressive experience in data science, analytics, business intelligence, quantitative decision support, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of five years of leadership experience with a significant background in guiding Team Leads, managers, or senior analytical personnel.
• Proven experience in building, scaling, or significantly enhancing an analytics or data science function.
• Experience in delivering analytical capabilities that influence business decisions or are part of production products.
• Capability to coach Team Leads, develop analysts and data scientists, manage recurring and ad hoc demands, and prioritize alongside senior business leaders.
• Recent hands-on experience in analytical delivery; this is not solely a management role.
• Experience managing a portfolio that includes data science, executive/management reporting, enterprise KPIs, self-service analytics, forecasting, scenario modeling, and rapid ad hoc decision support.
• Expertise in developing and assessing predictive models using train/test designs, backtesting, performance metrics, stability or drift analysis, as well as documentation and communication of limitations and intended usage.
• Experience in establishing enterprise metrics and reconciling conflicting definitions across various functions.
• Experience in creating analytical tools and decision frameworks that support operational, credit, pricing, portfolio, capital, or strategic decisions.
• Experience assisting senior leaders in a dynamic business environment and prioritizing analytical demands based on decision value, urgency, data readiness, and resource capacity.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python or equivalent analytical tools, along with business intelligence and visualization platforms.
• Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, model evaluation and backtesting, experimentation, forecasting, scenario analysis, feature development, data visualization, and reproducible analytical workflows.
• Ability to articulate ambiguous business questions, identify the decision analysis support needed, select an appropriate approach, and convey findings, uncertainties, limitations, and trade-offs.
• Ability to provide succinct recommendations to senior executives and collaborate with operational users and technical teams.
