This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vermont.
• Respond to calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.
• Always be ready to take notes during calls.
• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary related to the healthcare and medical industries.
• Accurately render all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting content.
• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.
• Facilitate communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and clients by providing precise and complete interpretations.
• Adhere to established standards of practice.
• Participate in internal professional training sessions.
• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.
• Communicate and report regularly to your team leader.
• Follow dress code standards for video remote interpreting.
• Proficient in both ASL and English.
• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of legal terminology is an advantage.
• International certifications related to the healthcare sector are beneficial (such as HIPAA).
• ASL Language Certificate, RID, and BEI are significant advantages.
• High school diploma in your primary language.
• High emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diverse cultures.
• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
• Solid understanding of Deaf culture.
• Fully remote position with a structured schedule.
