American Sign Language VRS Interpreters, Missouri

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during a call.

• Have a strong understanding of the specific vocabulary relevant to the interpreting industry, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, ensuring no additions, omissions, or substitutions.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpretation.

• Facilitate communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the Client by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Implement standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training.

• Demonstrate a willingness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader effectively.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications within the healthcare sector are a bonus (e.g., HIPAA).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, and BEI are significant advantages.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.

• A solid understanding of Deaf culture.
