American Sign Language VRS Interpreters

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Manage incoming calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Have a solid understanding of the specialized vocabulary used in the industry, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Accurately convey all messages without adding, omitting, or substituting any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Facilitate effective communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the Client by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a recognized interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are beneficial (e.g., HIPAA, etc.).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, and BEI certifications are significant assets.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• High emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.

• A solid understanding of Deaf culture.
