American Sign Language VRS Interpreters

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls professionally, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary related to the industry in which you interpret, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or altering any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Enable effective communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the Client by providing precise and complete interpretation of messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Maintain communication and report to your team leader.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• At least 1 year of experience in ASL VRS with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are a plus (such as HIPAA).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, and BEI are significant assets.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• High emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diverse cultures.

• Exceptional skills in communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention.

• Possess a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
