American Sign Language Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, ensuring no additions, omissions, or substitutions.

• Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the interpreting process.

• Facilitate communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and the Client by providing accurate and complete interpretations.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Demonstrate a willingness to pursue new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader effectively.

• Follow dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in both ASL and English.

• At least 1 year of experience with ASL VRS in a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

• Awareness of legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are a bonus (e.g., HIPAA).

• ASL Language Certificate, RID, or BEI is mandatory.

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance.

• Exhibit strong communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.

• Have a solid understanding of Deaf culture.
