Airborne Sensor Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Operate and utilize airborne ISR mission systems, encompassing EO/IR sensors, radar, mission management systems, tactical communications, recording devices, and other mission-specific technologies.

• Conduct ISR missions across maritime and terrestrial environments in alignment with customer specifications, SOPs, TTPs, and operational directives.

• Collaborate on airborne operations with pilots, fellow ASOs, ground teams, supported elements, and various operational assets.

• Perform mission planning, coordination, mission system preparation, equipment inspections, and aircrew briefings.

• Monitor, analyze, and utilize sensor and mission system data to aid mission objectives and facilitate real-time decision-making.

• Operate tactical communications, mission computers, recording equipment, sensors, and other aircraft mission apparatus.

• Conduct debriefings, maintain mission and operational logs, manage recorded data, and complete mission documentation.

• Execute pre-flight and post-flight equipment checks, report malfunctions, and assist in troubleshooting.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of mission systems, sensors, communications equipment, networks, SOPs, and TTPs.

• Adhere to aviation safety, operational security, communications security, information security, and data-handling standards.

• Sustain ASO qualifications, current certifications, and competencies; fulfill mandatory training requirements.

• Accurately complete operational, training, safety, and administrative records.

• Support operational readiness through equipment assessments, mission preparations, training, ongoing activities, and professional development.

• Uphold high standards of safety, security, quality, professionalism, discretion, accountability, and customer focus.

• Travel frequently to facilitate deployments, training sessions, or exercises.

⛳️ Requirements

• Prior experience as a trained Airborne Sensor Operator (ASO) executing airborne ISR operations.

• Proficiency in operating ISR mission systems within a multi-crew aviation setting.

• Proven experience managing airborne mission computers, mission management systems, tactical moving-map software, and related mission equipment.

• Familiarity with operating and employing airborne ISR sensors, including electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems and other specialized sensor technologies.

• Working knowledge of tactical communications, radio systems, data networks, and the dissemination of mission information.

• Experience implementing operational Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during airborne ISR operations.

• Background in mission planning, airborne mission execution, and post-mission reporting and debriefing.

• Strong situational awareness with the ability to function in dynamic, high-workload environments.

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

• Competence with Microsoft Office applications and other standard business software.

• Current and relevant security clearance for the position.

• Experience conducting ISR operations in both maritime and land environments.

• Knowledge of operating radar systems, including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Moving Target Indicator (MTI), and/or surface-search radar.

• Prior deployed or rotational operational experience.

• Experience addressing sensitive or specialist customer requirements.

• Familiarity with operating in multinational, joint, or multi-agency environments.

• Legal authorization to work in the United Kingdom and the ability to provide right-to-work documentation.

• Must possess, or be capable of obtaining and maintaining, UK Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
