AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance Periskope’s AI engineering framework and core AI functionalities.

• Create production-ready AI features utilizing foundational models.

• Design AI agents, tools, workflows, and integrations capable of executing meaningful actions.

• Establish robust infrastructure for AI workloads across various cloud platforms.

• Conduct rapid experiments with new AI models, frameworks, tools, and development processes.

• Transform prototypes into scalable and maintainable production solutions.

• Enhance AI reliability through evaluation, observability, logging, guardrails, and testing.

• Integrate AI functionalities with APIs, databases, internal systems, and external applications.

• Take ownership of engineering challenges from architecture and implementation to deployment.

• Collaborate closely with the founding team to identify and address impactful product and engineering challenges.

• Construct AI-native systems and the engineering framework that will drive the next generation of Periskope.

• Periskope is a WhatsApp operations platform utilized by over 5,000 businesses across more than 50 countries, merging shared inboxes, workflows, integrations, automation, and AI agents for sales, support, and operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience in software engineering.

• Currently employed at a product-focused startup or scale-up.

• Strong foundational skills in software engineering with an AI-centric perspective.

• Proven track record of building and delivering products/features utilizing AI/LLMs.

• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and cloud-native development.

• Proficient in creating production systems from start to finish with a high level of ownership.

• Experience with LLM APIs, agents, RAG, tool invocation, MCP, or similar AI application paradigms.

• Strong programming skills in one or more modern programming languages.

• Ability to contribute as a hands-on individual in a small engineering team.

• Strong portfolio of work: delivered AI projects, GitHub repositories, products, demos, or other concrete outputs.

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities.

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.

• Candidates must be citizens of India and currently residing in India, as per the application requirement.
