AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Design and develop agentic AI applications for complex, multi-step tasks that have clear tool boundaries, permissions, and safety mechanisms.

• Construct and oversee comprehensive RAG solutions that encompass ingestion, embeddings, retrieval, and generation processes.

• Establish quality metrics for agents and retrieval systems, and refine them based on performance outcomes.

• Integrate tools and data sources using MCP or similar standardized interfaces.

• Provide Angular/Node interfaces and APIs for business teams.

• Implement and manage AI services on AWS, including Lambda and ECS/EKS, ensuring robust logging, monitoring, error handling, retries, fallbacks, and safety measures.

• Identify repetitive tasks and deliver AI-enhanced workflow automation that integrates with enterprise systems and platforms.

• Develop and maintain technical documentation for architectures, interfaces, evaluation methods, and operational procedures.

• Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to convert workflows into defined deliverables and validate measurable results.

• Counsel stakeholders on enhancing operational efficiency through agentic workflows and RAG-enabled automation.

• Investigate and propose emerging AI tools, evaluation strategies, and responsible AI practices.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will be accepted.

• 5–10 years of experience in software engineering.

• 1 to 2 years of experience in creating production-grade Generative AI solutions.

• Practical experience in deploying agentic applications and RAG systems into production environments.

• Profound knowledge in at least one of agentic applications or RAG systems, along with solid familiarity with the other.

• Experience in building and delivering production services and APIs on AWS.

• Full-stack development experience utilizing Angular and Node/TypeScript.

• Understanding of CI/CD and operational practices, including automated builds/releases, monitoring, and alerting.

• Advanced proficiency in Python for backend/AI service development.

• Hands-on experience with at least one agent framework, such as LangChain, LangGraph, or CrewAI.

• Expertise in designing safe tool-calling, including tool boundaries, permissions, and validation.

• Knowledge of RAG, including aspects like chunking, embeddings, retrieval, and basic reranking.

• Familiarity with at least one vector store, such as OpenSearch, Pinecone, or pgvector.

• Capability to assess and enhance AI systems utilizing practical quality signals and to identify regressions.

• Working knowledge of AWS deployment using serverless architectures and/or containers.

• Awareness of responsible/secure AI fundamentals, least privilege principles, data access controls, and safety measures.

• Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD, including reliable release and rollback methods.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, delivery-focused approach.

• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
