AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of finance workflows from start to finish, encompassing problem identification, production, and ongoing enhancements.

• Create agentic and LLM-based systems that integrate extraction, retrieval, reasoning, and tool utilization, with points for human involvement.

• Draft design documents, make decisions on build-versus-buy and model selection, and establish success metrics for workflows.

• Collaborate directly with customers and internal finance users to identify workflow challenges and define completion criteria.

• Develop production-level LLM pipelines featuring prompt and context design, structured outputs, validation, fallback mechanisms, and confidence scoring.

• Design retrieval and RAG components, including chunking, embeddings, vector searches, and re-ranking processes.

• Integrate AI services with backend systems through API contracts, retries, graceful degradation, and data isolation per customer.

• Oversee model cost and latency management.

• Create evaluation sets and automated evaluations to detect regressions.

• Instrument AI components with logging, tracing, dashboards, and alert systems.

• Maintain audit logs of AI decisions for regulated financial products.

• Develop shared AI engineering patterns, tools, and best practices.

• Educate the broader team on the effective use of coding agents and AI tools.

• Evaluate peers' AI system designs and disseminate insights.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years dedicated to building and operating LLM or AI-powered systems in a production environment.

• A proven history of owning a substantial system or workflow from scoping and design through to launch and iteration with minimal supervision.

• Practical experience in delivering LLM-powered applications utilizing APIs like Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar, including structured outputs, error management, and evaluation processes.

• Experience in designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows (tool usage, orchestration, human review stages), or RAG systems with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.

• Strong expertise in Python, along with a solid foundation in backend technologies: REST APIs, PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases, asynchronous patterns, and a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Regularly employs AI coding agents and tools, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, and can articulate their benefits and limitations.

• Familiarity with observability for AI systems, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.

• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Preferred: experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated sector.

• Preferred: experience in automating finance or back-office operations.

• Preferred: has taken the lead on a project or managed a small group of engineers technically.

• Preferred: experience in startups or scale-ups building systems from the ground up.

• Preferred: fluency in Spanish or Portuguese.

• Preferred: contributions to open-source projects, technical writing, or presentations on applied AI.
