AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of finance AI workflows, overseeing everything from problem identification to production and continuous enhancement.

• Create agentic and LLM-based systems that integrate extraction, retrieval, reasoning, and tool utilization.

• Specify human-in-the-loop checkpoints for critical financial decisions.

• Compose design documents, evaluate build-vs-buy and model options, and establish metrics for workflow success.

• Collaborate directly with customers and internal finance personnel to pinpoint workflow issues and outline completion criteria.

• Develop production-ready LLM pipelines that feature prompt and context design, structured outputs, validation processes, fallbacks, and confidence scoring.

• Design retrieval and RAG components, including chunking, embeddings, vector search, and re-ranking methodologies.

• Connect AI services with backend systems through API agreements, retries, graceful degradation, and individualized data isolation for each customer.

• Oversee model costs and latency considerations.

• Create evaluation sets and automated assessments to detect regressions.

• Implement logging, tracing, dashboards, alerts, and monitoring for AI quality.

• Keep a comprehensive audit trail of AI decisions for regulated financial products.

• Develop shared AI engineering patterns, tools, and best practices.

• Educate the broader team on the effective application of coding agents and AI tools.

• Review AI system designs and disseminate insights learned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to building and managing LLM or AI-driven systems in production.

• Proven ability to manage a large system or workflow from inception to completion, including scoping, design, launch, and iterative improvements, with minimal supervision.

• Practical experience delivering LLM-powered applications utilizing APIs such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar, encompassing structured outputs, error management, and evaluation.

• Familiarity with designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows, or RAG systems leveraging vector databases like pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate.

• Strong expertise in Python programming.

• Solid foundation in backend development: REST APIs, PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases, asynchronous patterns, and familiarity with a major cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Regular interaction with AI coding agents and tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.

• Experience in observability for AI systems, including logging, tracing, dashboards, and quality monitoring.

• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
