AI & Cloud Engineer – AWS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create and execute serverless and cloud-native architectures on AWS.

• Develop and deploy Generative AI and RAG solutions utilizing Amazon Bedrock and associated AWS services.

• Construct AI services and integrations using Python and Boto3.

• Establish retrieval pipelines that integrate Amazon OpenSearch, Bedrock Knowledge Bases, and LLMs.

• Design agentic architectures, including frameworks like AWS Strands Agents or their equivalents.

• Build and sustain cloud infrastructure with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.

• Deploy and manage workloads using AWS Lambda, ECS/Fargate, Cognito, IAM, and Step Functions.

• Define and establish LLMOps practices, encompassing model routing, evaluation, monitoring, and dedicated inference profiles.

• Utilize prompt engineering and LLM evaluation methods, including LLM-as-a-judge strategies.

• Collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders to convert requirements into effective solutions.

• Assist organizations in transforming complexity into measurable results by merging technology, data, intelligence, and human decision-making.

• Transition solutions from prototypes to secure, scalable, and production-ready environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant educational background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in AWS Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, or Cloud Solution Development.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in building and deploying Generative AI and LLM-based applications.

• Proven track record in designing and implementing cloud-native architectures on AWS.

• Demonstrated experience in deploying at least one production-grade RAG solution.

• Experience in agile delivery teams and multidisciplinary technical environments.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Solid experience with Amazon Bedrock, including foundation models, Knowledge Bases, AgentCore/runtime concepts, and guardrails.

• Strong Python development skills along with experience using Boto3.

• Practical experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing RAG architecture, retrieval pipelines, and AI-powered applications.

• Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

• Good understanding of Amazon OpenSearch and vector/retrieval architectures.

• Knowledge of LLM evaluation frameworks and orchestration, including LLM-as-a-Judge, observability, monitoring, testing, and responsible AI practices.

• Understanding of agentic architectures, multi-step reasoning workflows, and orchestration patterns for GenAI applications.

• Experience in prompt engineering, prompt evaluation, and techniques for enhancing LLM response quality and reliability.

• Ability to make architectural decisions, articulate trade-offs, and defend technical choices to both technical teams and clients.

• Experience in building APIs, integrating enterprise applications, and developing production-grade software solutions using contemporary engineering practices.

• Contractor B2B arrangement.

• Professional proficiency in French is a plus.

• AWS certifications are a bonus.

• Familiarity with AWS Lambda, ECS/Fargate, Amazon RDS, Cognito, IAM, and Step Functions is advantageous.

• Understanding of AWS security, including cross-account IAM and enterprise governance practices is preferred.

• Exposure to MLOps, AI deployment pipelines, and CI/CD practices is beneficial.

• Exposure to Architecture Review Boards, cloud governance frameworks, or enterprise architecture practices is valued.

• Consulting or client-facing delivery experience is an asset.

• Exposure to international projects or multicultural teams is appreciated.
