Aerospace Supply Chain Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement supply chain strategies that align with program, manufacturing, and production goals.

• Oversee sourcing, procurement, supplier management, and activities related to mitigating supply chain risks.

• Assist in ensuring production readiness and material availability to meet program schedules and customer obligations.

• Track supply chain KPIs, supplier performance metrics, and inventory effectiveness.

• Identify and apply process enhancements to boost supply chain efficiency, responsiveness, and operational performance.

• Foster cross-functional collaboration for program execution and long-term supply chain improvement.

• Conduct evaluations for make-versus-buy decisions regarding components, assemblies, tooling, and manufacturing processes.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Program Management to assess cost, quality, capacity, schedule, and risk.

• Create business cases and recommendations for strategic sourcing actions.

• Evaluate internal manufacturing capabilities compared to external supplier options.

• Identify, assess, qualify, onboard, and develop supplier relationships.

• Carry out supplier capability assessments, qualification reviews, audits, and onboarding processes.

• Uphold strategic relationships with suppliers.

• Work alongside suppliers to enhance quality, delivery, capacity, and cost performance.

• Support corrective actions from suppliers and initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Establish supplier scorecards and performance measurement systems.

• Monitor supplier KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, capacity, and cost competitiveness.

• Lead supplier business reviews and initiatives for performance enhancement.

• Develop assessments and mitigation plans for supplier-related risks.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing on New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up efforts.

• Partner with Quality teams to ensure supplier compliance with aerospace standards and customer specifications.

• Assist Program Management in achieving schedule commitments and ensuring supply chain readiness.

• Report on supplier performance, sourcing strategies, and risk mitigation plans to leadership.

• Work together with Operations, Production, Quality, and Engineering to address supply chain challenges.

• Support strategic initiatives designed to enhance organizational capability and bolster supply chain resilience.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.

• A combination of relevant education and substantial supply chain experience may be considered.

• Over 10 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, procurement, supplier management, or a related field.

• Experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, or other regulated manufacturing sectors.

• Familiarity with conducting make-versus-buy analyses and strategic sourcing assessments.

• Proven experience in identifying, qualifying, onboarding, and developing suppliers.

• Strong understanding of aerospace supply chain requirements, supplier quality expectations, and production support processes.

• Experience in managing supplier performance and fostering continuous improvement initiatives.

• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing environment.

• Direct experience with aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or aerospace manufacturing.

• Knowledge of Airbus programs, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), or advanced aerospace technologies.

• Understanding of the aerospace and manufacturing supplier networks in the Pacific Northwest.

• Experience in sourcing composites, machined components, electronics, avionics, or aerospace assemblies.

• APICS/ASCM, CPSM, CSCP, or other relevant supply chain certifications.

• Experience in conducting supplier audits and managing qualification processes.

• Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and aerospace regulatory standards.

• Experience in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up activities.

• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or enterprise supply chain management systems.

• Ability to access information subject to U.S. export control regulations; access may be limited to U.S. Persons.
