This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the Advocacy team in positioning The Trevor Project as a prominent entity in state advocacy efforts.
• Develop effective procedures to enhance team operations.
• Create and circulate Trevor-branded materials, conduct research, and formulate talking points.
• Foster partnerships through relationship development.
• Gather data and monitor legislation.
• Support grassroots mobilization efforts.
• Oversee the Advocacy Intern program.
• Manage essential operational tasks such as record keeping, scheduling, and logistics.
• Configure and maintain team databases and tracking systems, including Salesforce, Asana, Mobile Commons, and Quorum.
• Provide training to staff, interns, and volunteers on database and tracking systems.
• Manage the Advocacy team inbox and calendar.
• Revise operations manuals, workflows, and performance dashboards.
• Supervise the advocacy travel budget and handle travel arrangements, scheduling, retreats, and community meeting logistics.
• Maintain lobbying and team activity tracking systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and report on federal and state legislation and regulatory agency actions.
• Draft and refine policy memos, comments, social media graphics and posts, educational resources, talking points, and advocacy tools.
• Produce and evaluate field-specific data for public-facing reports and educational content.
• Participate in virtual meetings and hearings, taking notes and disseminating pertinent information.
• Establish and nurture relationships with nonprofit organizations and partners.
• Coordinate initiatives across Research, Communications, Development, and Marketing, while supporting corporate partnership deliverables.
• 1–3 years of experience in public policy, community organizing, nonprofit administration, or legal/legislative operations.
• Clear commitment to LGBTQ rights, youth mental health, or crisis intervention advocacy.
• Desire to increase support for LGBTQ rights among diverse audiences.
• Capability to manage multi-stakeholder projects and coordinate large meeting logistics.
• Strong planning and problem-solving skills, including the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Willingness to learn enthusiastically, share knowledge appropriately, and pursue continuous improvement.
• Ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Dedication to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment.
