This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Provide virtual assistance to students and guardians/Learning Coaches regarding course selection and scheduling.
• Act as the primary contact for addressing student concerns across various subject areas as well as non-academic issues.
• Become knowledgeable about course and credit prerequisites and collaborate with the School Counselor to establish counseling procedures for middle and high school students.
• Conduct welcome calls to new students and keep grade-level teachers updated on enrollments.
• Oversee grade-level escalations, communication, participation, attendance, and truancy matters.
• Relay attendance expectations to caretakers and make necessary adjustments to attendance records.
• Guide students and families in academic matters, career planning, and graduation requirements.
• Assist in course selection and the formulation of four-year graduation plans.
• Provide advice to students regarding course drops and schedule changes while adhering to school policies.
• Collect and forward student records in coordination with administrative assistants and previous educational institutions.
• Facilitate access for families to school and community resources.
• Support the development of Academic Plans.
• Implement initiatives aimed at addressing interpersonal adjustment challenges.
• Engage in crisis prevention and management planning and be an active member of the Student Support Team.
• Identify students who may be at risk or in crisis and serve as their primary contact along with their families.
• Maintain each student’s Personal Learning Plan.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of student records.
• Assist families during the withdrawal process and gather relevant withdrawal data.
• Report and refer critical incidents in compliance with legal, administrative, and ethical standards.
• Support teachers with mid-semester enrollments and the integration of previous grades, credits, and evaluations.
• Contribute to professional development initiatives for teachers and staff.
• Assist in proctoring and monitoring participation in mandatory state assessments.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• Preference for Michigan teacher certification, though not mandated by MDE.
• Michigan residency is preferred.
• Proficient in technology, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Highly organized and punctual.
• Focused on student and family needs.
• Demonstrated flexibility.
• Proven capability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• History of being a collaborative team player.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with students, parents, staff, and a diverse community.
• Required attendance at in-person events, including State Testing, with possible overnight travel throughout the school year.
• Willingness to work occasional evening hours as needed.
• Capability to work remotely if required.
• Must have access to a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.
