ADMS Implementation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assume comprehensive responsibility for the Software System Integration aspect of extensive and intricate IT projects related to the management of electrical grid Transmission, Distribution, and Market systems.

• Construct and uphold the ADMS network model using customer GIS and asset data; execute initial and incremental model imports utilizing ADMS model build tools.

• Verify network connectivity, topology, phasing, and electrical parameters; identify and address data-quality concerns in collaboration with customer GIS and network teams, ensuring their resolution.

• Associate SCADA/RTU points with model objects; create and manage one-line, schematic, and geographic displays.

• Prepare and authenticate application data for DMS functions (load flow, FLISR, Volt/VAR optimization) and OMS functions (customer-to-transformer mapping, crews, and devices).

• Assist in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), cutover and go-live processes, along with post-go-live model maintenance.

• Educate customer modeling personnel to maintain the model after the handover.

• Take ownership of assigned technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle while collaborating with regional ADMS specialists, project management, and clients.

• Cultivate a thorough understanding of ADMS network modeling and associated applications, delivering results in accordance with established practices.

• Suggest solutions beyond defined parameters with guidance and apply technical and analytical skills to address straightforward tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Automation and Control, Industrial Computing, or a comparable field.

• At least 2 years of experience in distribution network modeling, GIS, SCADA/ADMS/DMS, network planning tools, or related utility software, particularly with an African customer base.

• Strong understanding of distribution network topology and equipment (substations, feeders, switching devices, transformers, protection devices) as well as power system fundamentals (load flow, phasing).

• Practical experience with GIS tools and data (ESRI ArcGIS, Smallworld, or QGIS; CIM/XML, shapefiles) and proficiency in SQL, Excel, or scripting for data transformation and validation.

• Proficiency in English.

• Experience in software implementation, system integration, or digital services for utility or industrial clients.

• Proficiency in Python or SQL scripting for data processing and automation.

• Keen attention to detail and a data-quality focus; capability to methodically navigate large datasets.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and regions.

• Capability to comprehend and enhance complex processes in a cross-functional setting.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and client-facing abilities.

• Experience with distribution utilities in Africa is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel to customer locations across Africa for training and collaboration with regional teams.
