This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Instruct courses on Public Safety Leadership & Organizational Management in a remote, asynchronous format.
• Maintain an active presence in the classroom for a minimum of 5 days each week.
• Initiate courses with welcome announcements and facilitate discussions.
• Enhance the standardized curriculum by integrating professional insights and real-world examples.
• Cultivate an inclusive and culturally responsive learning atmosphere.
• Address learner inquiries and provide feedback and final grades within designated timeframes.
• Monitor student engagement through available data analysis tools.
• Implement proactive outreach to students at risk.
• Collaborate with success coaches, academic staff, and portfolio directors.
• Direct struggling students to UMGC support resources.
• Engage in the faculty community, Program Hub, and ongoing training initiatives.
• Teach 8-week, 3-credit courses typically accommodating 25–35 students.
• A Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or a related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Professional experience in the fields of Public Safety and/or Criminal Justice.
• Candidates must possess and maintain their legal status in the country where they intend to teach.
• A student-centered approach characterized by empathy, flexibility, professional integrity, and cultural sensitivity.
• A terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience as a public safety administrator is preferred.
• Preferred experience includes teaching adult learners in an online, asynchronous setting.
• Prior experience in postsecondary teaching is preferred.
• Active participation in the professional community of the discipline is preferred.
• Submission of a Resume/Curriculum Vitae, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts is required.
• International degrees may necessitate translation or degree evaluation by a NACES approved vendor.
