This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Instruct students in Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture (ASTD 135) via remote learning
• Foster student engagement through regular interactions that inspire achievement and demonstrate passion for education
• Facilitate student collaboration and the practical application of knowledge through problem- and project-based activities
• Offer consistent constructive feedback utilizing rubrics to evaluate student assignments and recognize their successes
• Exhibit relevant and up-to-date expertise in the subject matter
• Assist students in linking concepts throughout their academic journey
• Provide insights to the program director regarding potential curricular enhancements
• Complete the online two-week faculty orientation, FacDev 411, successfully as a hiring prerequisite
• Master’s degree in Japanese, Japanese Studies, Japanese language pedagogy, Japanese linguistics, East Asian Studies, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in teaching the Japanese language
• Experience in instructing adult learners in an online format within higher education is strongly preferred
• Candidates holding international degrees may need to provide a translation or degree evaluation from a NACES-approved vendor
