Actuarial Consultant – Special Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Play a key role in a variety of DB pensions projects for DB pensions clients and bulk annuity providers.

• Execute benefit correction and rectification tasks.

• Conduct pre-deal due diligence for bulk annuity providers.

• Provide governance support for trustees, including verifying the application of rules to benefits.

• Carry out benefit creation tasks, such as establishing contingent spouse pensions.

• Perform audits of benefit calculations.

• Develop benefit calculation proformas for administration teams.

• Conduct calculation testing against automated results, identifying and rectifying calculation errors.

• Carry out data validation, audits, and projects focused on improvement and creation.

• Execute benefits and data due diligence.

• Create or review benefit summary specifications.

• Participate in client meetings or calls.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on specific projects.

• Clearly document issues and outcomes through email and phone communications.

• Produce or review consulting reports.

• Oversee and review the work of junior team members, offering feedback and development assistance.

• Collaborate directly with actuaries within the Special Projects team and the broader actuarial department as necessary.

• Ensure a comprehensive audit trail for all work activities.

• Coordinate with administration onboarding and live administration teams to resolve issues effectively and accurately.

• Assist in team workflow management to ensure timely client delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• A qualified actuary or a nearly qualified actuary.

• Extensive practical knowledge of occupational DB pensions.

• Flexibility to engage in various types of DB pensions projects, sometimes concurrently.

• Capacity to meet tight deadlines.

• Effective communication skills with both actuaries and non-actuaries.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team.

• Experience in supporting and mentoring actuarial students through project work.

• Strong team player with a positive attitude and adaptable approach to work.
