Accounts Receivable Specialist – EPIC PB, Billing and Denial Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee accounts receivable in accordance with compliance, regulatory, billing, and payer guidelines.

• Retrieve outstanding receivables via payer portals and telephone communications.

• Confirm coverage and accurately process insurance claims.

• Address charge review edits, claim edits, clearinghouse rejections, payer rejections, unpaid claims, denied claims, and allowance discrepancies.

• Submit straightforward reconsiderations and appeals to health insurance providers.

• Follow up on outstanding receivables and finalize account collections.

• Respond to, document, and resolve inquiries from insurance companies, internal departments, patients, public agencies, and third-party payers.

• Investigate medical documentation, eligibility details, billing protocols, referrals, and authorizations using clinical applications and payer websites.

• Allocate undistributed payments to outstanding balances.

• Review correspondence and request adjustments to accounts.

• Rectify insurance setup errors and ensure timely billing.

• Assess credit/balance accounts, process refunds, and initiate payer recoupments.

• Prepare corrected invoices, adjust accounts receivable entries, and issue refunds as necessary.

• Handle or direct departmental calls through a rotation line.

• Collaborate with Billing, Coding, Cash Posting, and other departments.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.

• Must possess EPIC PB, Billing, and Denial Experience.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• High level of confidentiality.

• Capability to manage a large volume of work.

• Capacity to multitask.

• Ability to handle confidential information in a HIPAA-compliant manner.

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

• Initiative to take action, accept direction, and seek guidance when necessary.

• Proficient in analyzing accounts and determining suitable actions.

• Availability Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
