Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Follow up with insurance payers regarding pending claims

• Identify and address barriers to payment and expedite cash collections

• Pursue and collect on assigned accounts

• Employ follow-up strategies and tools to resolve claims and secure payments

• Elevate unpaid claims to payer claims supervisors when necessary

• Record client host-system activity utilizing the 5 W’s framework along with relevant policies and procedures

• Transfer account notes into Amplify’s workflow tool

• Assign status codes in Amplify to recognize and tackle trends

• Draft first- and second-level appeals for denied claims

• Report payer denial trends and other issues to Management

• Manage assigned underpayments as instructed by Management

• Adhere to daily productivity and quality standards

• Investigate and assess correspondence related to assigned accounts

⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to work independently from home in a dynamic, fast-paced, and goal-driven environment

• Experience with direct account follow-up and/or billing

• Preferred knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG

• Intermediate proficiency in Excel is preferred

• Familiarity with third-party insurance collections

• Understanding of the complete revenue cycle

• Detail-oriented and organized

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

• Capability to manage inquiries and customer interactions

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 3–5 years of collections experience in a Hospital Business Office

• Ability to protect confidential patient account information

• Reliable internet connection and a quiet, dedicated home workspace

• Proficiency in using necessary office equipment and communicating via email, phone, video meetings, and collaborative tools
