Accounting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Manage, analyze, and reconcile designated General Ledger accounts.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies found in financial records.

• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for the assigned accounts.

• Examine variances and prepare necessary corrective entries.

• Create, maintain, and oversee monthly cash flow forecasts.

• Generate monthly journal entries, allocations, accruals, and adjusting entries.

• Extract data from EMERGE, review it, and transfer information into MIP.

• Review, confirm, and approve invoices within Compass and subsequently import them into MIP.

• Assist with annual financial audits, tax submissions, and regulatory reporting.

• Oversee and execute Positive Pay processes.

• Provide support during month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Keep organized accounting records and supporting documents.

• Act as backup for the Accounts Payable Supervisor as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in Accounting.

• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Understanding of organizational policies and regulatory standards.

• Proven experience with EMERGE.

• Proven experience with MIP.

• Proven experience with Compass.

• Capability to perform general ledger and bank reconciliations.

• Ability to prepare journal entries, allocations, accruals, and adjusting entries.

• Competence in preparing and supervising cash flow forecasts.

• Skill in supporting audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.

• Proficiency in maintaining Positive Pay processes.

• Ability to serve as backup for the Accounts Payable Supervisor as necessary.
