Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.

• Supervise the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and reconciliations with banks and payment processors.

• Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses.

• Manage accounting for multiple entities and currencies, including intercompany transactions.

• Implement ASC 606 revenue recognition, which involves identifying performance obligations, determining transaction prices, and recognizing and allocating revenue.

• Account for high-volume transactional revenue, including evaluation fees, subscriptions, resets, refunds, discounts, and other variable considerations.

• Prepare and maintain technical accounting memos and revenue policy documentation.

• Evaluate the accounting implications of new products, pricing changes, and contract terms.

• Maintain deferred revenue schedules and reconcile them with the general ledger and payment processor data.

• Supervise accounting for trader payouts, including accruals, liabilities, and reconciliations.

• Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, overseeing audit planning, PBC requests, workpapers, and timelines.

• Prepare audit-ready support schedules, reconciliations, and documentation throughout the year.

• Address auditor inquiries and resolve any audit adjustments and findings.

• Assist in designing, documenting, and testing internal controls over financial reporting to close control gaps.

• Collaborate with tax advisors and bookkeepers regarding tax filings and regulatory compliance.

• Develop and document accounting procedures, close checklists, and process narratives with the Controller.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting through variance analysis.

• Identify opportunities to automate and enhance accounting workflows and systems.

• Hire, coach, and develop members of the accounting team.

• Report to the Controller and collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Payments to create scalable systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.

• Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP, with practical experience applying ASC 606 to actual transactions.

• Direct experience in supporting external financial statement audits, including PBC preparation, workpapers, and communication with auditors.

• Familiarity with month-end closing processes and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Practical experience with an ERP or accounting platform, such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Sage Intacct.

• Proficient in advanced Excel or Google Sheets.

• Experience in multi-entity consolidation and reconciling high-volume transaction data.

• Exceptional attention to detail, accompanied by strong written and verbal communication skills.

• CPA or an equivalent certification is preferred.

• Background in public accounting or auditing is preferred.

• Experience in drafting technical accounting memos and assessing complex revenue arrangements is preferred.

• Familiarity with fintech, trading, payments, e-commerce, or other high-volume digital businesses is preferred.

• Experience with payment processors such as Stripe, as well as crypto or alternative payment methods, is preferred.

• Knowledge of SOX-style internal controls and audit readiness is preferred.

• Experience using BI or data tools such as SQL and Looker, along with process automation, is preferred.

• Flexible working hours to facilitate collaboration across different time zones, including the U.S.

• Work authorization and visa sponsorship status must be addressed in the application.

• Professional experience in a proprietary trading firm is requested within the application.
