This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily operations of Fold's accounting department.
• Manage the monthly closing process, which includes journal entries, general ledger upkeep, and close checklists.
• Prepare and assess balance sheet reconciliations for bank accounts, prepaid and accrued amounts, as well as corporate/customer Bitcoin holdings.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, which involves vendor and contractor payments, invoicing, and cash application.
• Assist with technical accounting tasks, such as stock-based compensation entries, revenue recognition timelines, and fixed asset/lease accounting.
• Create supporting schedules and PBC requests for external audits and quarterly assessments.
• Aid in the execution and documentation of SOX controls for close processes, reconciliations, payroll, and AP/AR.
• Recognize and implement process enhancements to increase the speed and accuracy of closings while minimizing manual tasks.
• Train, review, and mentor accounting personnel or contractors.
• Support quarterly SEC filings and treasury activities under the guidance of the Controller.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting.
• CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger, reconciliation, and ownership of the closing process.
• Direct experience with SEC reporting and the closing cycles of public companies.
• Previous experience at a public company or in an auditing role for a public entity.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Ability to operate effectively in a company with SOX-level control expectations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
• Proven experience in managing and leading accounting staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidates must possess permanent legal authorization to work in the United States.
