Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage the complete accounting cycle, which includes month-end closing, general ledger maintenance, revenue tracking, accounts payable, payroll, tax compliance, and audit readiness.

• Oversee the close calendar by assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and reviewing and delivering close results to the Head of Finance.

• Review and post journal entries while preparing judgment-based entries, such as commission and bonus accruals, payroll adjustments, and period-end reclassifications.

• Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and perform month-over-month and year-over-year fluctuation analyses.

• Maintain the chart of accounts, product master lists, and reporting mappings.

• Review and approve the monthly revenue close across platforms like Stripe, Salesforce, and QuickBooks Online.

• Manage the ASC 606 revenue recognition policy and associated judgment calls.

• Oversee ARR and CARR reporting and reconcile bookings, billings, and recognized revenue.

• Supervise invoicing, collections, dunning processes, concessions, credit memos, refunds, and deferred revenue schedules.

• Manage vendor bills, payment runs, and employee reimbursements through Ramp.

• Collaborate with People Operations on both domestic and international payroll matters.

• Update expense forecasts and maintain amortization and accrual schedules.

• Coordinate tax filings and ensure compliance with sales tax, 1099, and entity registration requirements.

• Handle audit readiness and execution, including preparing PBC lists, supporting schedules, and addressing auditor inquiries.

• Lead and develop a small team of analysts.

• Act as a backup for the team and serve as the Head of Finance’s delegate on accounting issues.

• Maintain accounting standard operating procedures (SOPs), close checklists, and task repositories.

• Identify and streamline inefficient processes while enhancing finance automation and AI workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including complete ownership of a full close cycle and hands-on balance sheet reconciliation.

• Strong background in full general ledger processes, including payroll, accruals, and revenue entries.

• Ability to articulate accounting activities through the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

• Experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606 in a subscription-based business.

• Proven track record of managing, reviewing, and developing other accountants.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential, with daily hands-on experience in chart of accounts management, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and reporting.

• Experience with Stripe is required, covering subscriptions, invoices, credit memos, disputes, payouts, and general-ledger reconciliation.

• Advanced skills in Google Sheets, including the use of pivots, lookups, nested logic, and data validation.

• Demonstrated current usage of AI in accounting tasks.

• Capability to write prompts, iterate on AI outputs, and determine when to exercise caution with AI information.

• CPA certification or active CPA candidate status is preferred.

• Previous experience in the SaaS or technology industry is preferred.

• Familiarity with modern expense, HRIS, or close-management platforms is advantageous.

• Hands-on approach to reviewing and preparing accounting work.
